Awkward and Proud: Antoinette Bonafede Shine of Everybody’s Place Psychotherapy On How Embracing Your True Self Can Be Your Social Superpower

Vulnerability can make us feel out of control of what people think, how we’ll be judged, or whether we’ll be rejected. The unknown result of vulnerability is what makes it so hard because, deep down, many of us want to feel accepted. I think we spend so much time locking up vulnerability because of fear that we can miss out on experiences and relationships because of it. I think the first step is understanding that vulnerability is your friend, not your enemy. If you put it out there and get used to saying your strengths, quirks, and weaknesses out loud, you can get out of your head with the negative self-talk and see that most people are far kinder to us than we are to ourselves.
