Our Philosophy

“Everybody’s Place” speaks for itself in the concept of a therapy practice. It represents a place of belonging, support, and safety where you can find acceptance in all the things that make you, well, you! The origins of Everybody’s Place come from family values and ideology: hard work, sincerity, and authenticity guide our work together so that you can find the best version of yourself. It is okay to be struggling, and it is okay to ask for help. You have a place here.

About Jamil Elisofon, LMSW

Virtual Associate Psychotherapist

Jamil is a compassionate and experienced clinician who works with individuals of all ages navigating life’s many challenges — from anxiety, depression, and trauma to life transitions and relationship dynamics. With nearly a decade of experience across nonprofits and school-based settings, Jamil brings a deep understanding of the complexities and uniqueness each client carries.

In therapy, Jamil creates a space that is empathetic, honest, and even infused with a touch of humor. He honors each client’s pace while gently encouraging the growth that calls to them. His approach is rooted in authenticity, trust, and genuine human connection, offering a flexible, responsive environment where healing and change can unfold.

Jamil holds a Bachelor’s degree from State University at Oneonta and a Master’s in Social Work from University at Buffalo, where he served on the board of the university’s National Association of Black Social Workers chapter. His work is trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and employs a body-aware lens, always respecting the uniqueness of each person’s journey.

Rather than focusing on “fixing” what’s wrong or inadequate in a person, Jamil helps clients deepen their understanding of themselves and make empowered, intentional choices toward their fullest potential. He draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based practices, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and a strengths-based perspective — but more than any technique, it’s the therapeutic alliance he builds with clients that creates real momentum for change. Jamil is always researching and adding to his clinical insight to ensure he has an ever-evolving toolbox to co-create a treatment plan with clients that works for them and their goals.

Jamil is dedicated to walking alongside his clients through the challenging journey of growth. He encourages them to step outside their comfort zones, remain open to honest reflection, and embrace the powerful, often chaotic process of transformation. He recognizes that reaching out for support takes courage, and he approaches every client with the understanding that therapy doesn’t require you to have everything figured out. It only asks that you show up, just as you are.
